In November 2023, the Bond Bank issued $155,000,000 in tax-exempt bonds. The Series 2023D (Ad Valorem Property Tax Funded Project) bonds will finance the expansion of the Indiana Convention Center on Pan Am Plaza. The expansion of the Indiana Convention Center on Pan Am Plaza will include approximately 50,000 square-foot ballroom, pedestrian skybridge, and additional meeting space and common facilities. The convention Center Expansion gives Indianapolis the opportunity to host two citywide conventions at one time. With the Project expansion to the Convention Center, Indianapolis will be able to both retain annual cornerstone conventions and attract new businesses. Multiple organizations that rely on convention space have publicly stated their support in the expansion of the Convention Center. A non-exhaustive list includes Indiana Sports Corp, FDIC International, FFA (Future Farmers of America), the NFL (National Football League), and Gen Con. The anticipating economic impact in new conventions that Indianapolis can host us up to $232 million. The project is expected to be completed in Summer 2026.
