Project

In January 2024 the Bond Bank issued $23,315,000 in tax-exempt Facility Revenue bonds. The 2024A bonds will finance Improvements at the City-County Building and the demolition of the former County Jail 1 located at 40 S. Alabama. City-County Building improvements include (i) improvements to the east wing of the City-County Building, (ii) mechanical upgrades including modernizing the switchgear, upgrading the building automation system, improving HVAC controls, updating the variable air volume boxes around perimeter of all floors, and (iii) maintenance on the 570-space parking garage located under the City-County Building south plaza, including new cementitious overlay and waterproofing. The City-County Building improvements will allow the City to consolidate and centralize government offices and services.  The City ended external private office leases and is relocated approximately 450 employees to the City County building, filling vacancies left by the transition of the Courts to the Community Justice Campus. By the end of 2024, the building will be 90% full.
